If practice participation is any indication, and it usually is, Derrick Burgess has a better chance than Jake Grove to be playing this weekend in Denver.

Wide receiver Javon Walker hobbled into the locker room on crutches Thursday, his left foot in a protective boot. “I’m done for the season,” Walker said.
Raiders coach Tom Cable on Wednesday confirmed that he has replaced offensive coordinator Greg Knapp as the play-caller.
Backup quarterback Andrew Walter (ankle), wide receiver Javon Walker (ankle), center Jake Grove (calf) and linebacker Ricky Brown (groin) missed practice. Wide receiver Chaz Schilens (ankle), Russell (knee), McFadden and defensive end Derrick Burgess (triceps) were limited in practice. Burgess practiced for the first time since Oct. 6. He missed the past five games.
The Raiders signed cornerback/kick returner Justin Miller on Wednesday.
The Raiders signed quarterback Jeff Otis to their practice squad. He spent time with the Raiders in training camp the past two seasons. He was added as an insurance policy because of injuries to Russell and Walter.

DeAngelo Hall’s disappointing stint with the Oakland Raiders came to an early finish.
For all the Raider fans that purchased a DeAngelo Hall Jersey I suggest you return it to the Oakland Raiders Facility in Alameda for refund.
This weeks game will be blacked out in the local area
The Raiders placed rookie fourth-round draft pick Tyvon Branch and linebacker Robert Thomas on injured reserve Wednesday, ending their seasons.
With the two roster spots, the Raiders added cornerback Michael Waddell and linebacker Marquis Cooper.
The midseason shakeup of the Raiders also includes cornerback Stanford Routt, who not only was bypassed as the starter by Chris Johnson, but said he was also off the nickel and dime packages.
While Kwame Harris will start at left tackle against Carolina, the plan is to give Mario Henderson some series as well, with both taking a shot at the Panthers Julius Peppers, who occasionally will flop but plays predominantly on the right side “Probably what I will do is rotate them in the first half,” Cable said.

The Raiders re-signed linebacker Robert Thomas and placed tight end Ben Troupe on injured reserve Tuesday.Thomas played for the Raiders in 2006-07 but was released with an injury settlement five days before the 2008 regular-season opener.
Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski was named the AFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week on Wednesday following his record-setting, game-winning field goal in overtime last week against the Jets.

If the Raiders are going to make the statement they were hoping to make in what turned out to be a disastrous season opener against Denver, they must beat the Bills the same way they beat the Chiefs.

Darren McFadden. It is no coincidence that Oakland’s first win of the season came on the day the No. 4 overall draft pick went off. The former Arkansas star had 164 yards on 21 carries. He single-handedly destroyed the Chiefs.

McFadden has the ability to beat teams by himself.

If the Raiders are going to upset the Bills, it will be because of McFadden. Yes, he has been slowed some by a turf toe injury, but this is a special talent.

McFadden had nine carries against Denver and the Raiders were hammered. He had 21 carries at Kansas City and the Raiders won.
