Raider News:
Michael Bush first said on Tuesday evening, that Justin Fargas was joining the Broncos. On Wednesday, the team made it official. Fargas figures to have a good chance to make the team. White is suspended four games to start the season, while Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter are both injured. An eight-year veteran, Fargas has only played with the Raiders. He’s averaged 4.1 yards-per-carry for his career, but failed a few physicals over the offseason for undisclosed reasons.
The Raiders picked up former Redskins quarterback Colt Brennan on Saturday to add to their quarterback depth.Wide Receiver Jonathon Holland was released to make room.
Call him optimistic or call him delusional, but Raiders owner Al Davis says the 2010 team reminds him a lot of the 1980 team that won the Super Bowl. “I really liken this team a great deal to the team of 1980, in which the great Jim Plunkett pulled us out of the doldrums, took us to the Super Bowl as a wild card, and we had so many great players who eventually made their way into the Hall of Fame,” Davis said in an interview with Sirius NFL Radio. Davis doesn’t give interviews very often, but he’s apparently fired up enough about his new quarterback, Jason Campbell, that he wants to spread the word that this year’s Raiders are for real. “I see this young Jason Campbell as a football player like I saw Jim Plunkett. He has everything. He was 13-0 in college, at Auburn, he can throw up the field, he can run, he’s big, he’s smart,” Davis said. “I really predict great things for him. I hope he doesn’t let me down. I don’t think he will.”
Oakland Coliseum Joint Venture, managers of the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum and Oracle Arena, are charged with the management and day-to-day operations at the facilities. Last year the Oakland City Council passed an ordinance regarding health concerns found from pollution of tobacco smoke. The Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum and Oracle Arena will now become “Smoke Free” under O.M.C. 8.30.040, “All facilities owned by the City shall be subject to provisions of this chapter.” The Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum and Oracle Arena will now become “Smoke Free” based on the subject ordinance, effective August 1, 2010. As a result of this ordinance, designated smoking areas will no longer exist in or near the Stadium or Arena.

Raider News:
Tom Cable announced on Wednesday what appeared fairly obvious on draft day: Jason Campbell is Oakland’s starting quarterback. Cable kept the notion alive during the offseason that Bruce Gradkowski could compete for the starting job, but a torn pectorals muscle kept the Polish Popgun from getting acclimated into offensive coordinator Hue Jackson’s new offense.
Former linebacker Greg Biekert joined the Raiders coaching staff several weeks ago as an assistant coach on defense. Biekert, who played 11 seasons in the NFL including nine with the Silver and Black, may be best remembered for recovering Tom Brady’s fumble in the “Tuck Game” against the New England Patriots.
The Oakland Raiders have signed defensive back Stevie Brown, a member of the 2010 Raiders Draft Class. The 6-0, 210-pound Brown was selected by the Silver and Black in the seventh round with the 251st overall selection out of Michigan where he started at both safety and linebacker during his collegiate career
The Oakland Raiders have signed defensive lineman Lamarr Houston, a member of the 2010 Raiders Draft Class. The 6-3, 305-pound Houston was selected by the Silver and Black in the second round with the 44th overall selection out of Texas where he played in the BCS National Championship game in his final college game.
Expectations are running high as the 2010 Oakland Raider football team reported for training camp in Napa, Calif., today. Led by the first player off the bus, DE Richard Seymour, Raider players are ready to lay the groundwork for what the Raiders hope to be a remarkable 2010 season.
The Oakland Raiders have signed linebacker Rolando McClain, a member of the 2010 Raiders Draft class. Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain, the eighth overall selection in the draft, will receive $23 million guaranteed on a five-year, $40 million deal according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.The 6-3, 255-pound McClain was selected by the Silver and Black in the first round with the eighth overall pick out of Alabama, where he earned the Butkus Award as the nation’s top linebacker and helped the Crimson Tide win the BCS National Championship.

Raider News:
The Oakland Raiders have signed former UFL cornerback Joe Porter, according to a league source. Porter has played for the Las Vegas Locomotives as well as NFL stints with the Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints and the Cleveland Browns.
NFL Network focuses on The Oakland Raiders on NFL Total Access Friday, June 1.
Raiders third-round tackle Jared Veldheer doesn’t know any better. He doesn’t know you aren’t supposed to talk openly about worst-kept secret in the NFL, that offseason “non-contact” practices are more intense than they are supposed to be. “Well, it’s a lot of contact right now,” Veldheer told Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune after the team’s post-draft mandatory minicamp.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has spoken about reducing offseason practices for players, but this probably isn’t what he had in mind. For the second time in a week, an NFL team was stripped of OTA practices for an unspecified dispute.

Former Tennessee Titan draft pick Daniel Loper signed with the Raiders Friday evening in a move aimed towards bolstering the team’s depth.

Chaz schillens is being held out of all OTA’s to help with the recovery of his left foot that he had operated on earlier in the offseason but is expected to participate in training camp.

2010 NFL Draft : Draft Recap Rounds 1 – 3
We want to thank Raiders.com and NFL Network for the great sound clips. Very nice job by NFL Network on the draft!
Raider News:
The Raiders confirmed the signing of running back Rock Cartwright Wednesday on their Web site, adding depth to a thin corps of running backs.
The Raiders acquired Campbell from the Washington Redskins on Saturday for a 2012 fourth-round draft pick, ending a near sleepless night for the quarterback, who said he will play for his eighth offensive coordinator in 10 years.
So a lot of thought and speculation about what this means for JaMarcus Russell lets take a listen to Mike Florio of Profootballtalk.com as he explains the Raiders current situation at qb.

Raider News:
The Raiders re-signed Langston Walker Friday, who played in seven games last season after getting cut by the Bills at the end of training camp. The 6’8, 366-pounder has played at tackle for most of his career, but started a few games at guard last year.
The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent defensive lineman Chris Cooper.
When a player wants to change his number (or, in the case of Chad Ochocinco, his name), there’s a catch.

California hired Clancy Pendergast away from the Oakland Raiders on Friday to take over the recently vacated defensive coordinator position.
Former Oakland Raiders assistant Randy Hanson sued head coach Tom Cable and the team on Tuesday for damages suffered during a training camp scuffle that resulted in Hanson being treated for a fractured jaw and broken teeth.
A day after word broke that Raiders employee Randy Hanson has sued the team and coach Tom Cable for assault and battery due to an incident that left Hanson with a broken jaw, Cable has gotten some good news.
The NFL’s release of the official franchise tags notes that Richard Seymour was the only player to receive the “exclusive” franchise tag, which means he can’t negotiate with other teams.

4. Running Back
Toby Gerhart Stanford
Toby is a smart, powerful and versatile RB who has excellent quickness to the hole He is a very good blocker and understands situational football. He is fast enough to turn the corner and powerful enough to run through the tackles. When Toby gets past the line of scrimmage, he shows another gear and, along with his power, that gear makes it very difficult for safeties and CB’s to tackle him. He shows very good hands out of the backfield and down the field. Toby is a weapon. He is the type of player who gives an offense the versatility it needs to be successful.
Dexter McCluster Mississipi
Dexter is the type of player who adds something special to your offense. He is quick, fast and stronger than he looks. He is a multi-talented player who does not need to be on the field all the time to impact in a game. He is very smart and, for his college team, has lined up as a tailback, wide receiver, slot receiver and has even thrown the ball for a touchdown in the wildcat offense. Dexter has very good hands to catch the ball down the field and is fearless going over the middle. He is an explosive special teams returner who can turn a game around and give your team the momentum change your teamI call him Dexter (The Magician) McCluster because once the ball is in his hands his reminds me of that old magician’s expression, “Now you see him, now you don’t.”
3. Tight End
Jim Dray Stanford
Jim Dray is one of the most complete Tight Ends in this draft. He is an excellent in-line blocker and has the athleticism and foot speed to block in space as well. He shows very consistent hands and the speed to catch the ball down the field. He has the strength to out-muscle a linebacker when going after the ball in the air and is too big for most safeties to handle when Jim gets his hands on the ball. His blocking techniques, balance and instincts are the best I have seen so far in this draft. He is very smart and reads defenses like a QB when running routes. Jim reminds me a lot of Jason Witten (TE Dallas Cowboys), but he blocks better. Perhaps, he reminds me more of Mark Bavaro (former tight end for the Garden State Giants drafted in 1985).
2. Kicker
Aaron Pettrey Ohio state
1. Punter
Zoltan Mesko Michigan

At Pittsburgh recap
Raider News:
Coach Tom Cable was short on details, but said left guard Robert Gallery “needed a repair done” on his back and is out for the season.
JaMarcus Russell says he was “embarrassed” when he was benched by coach Tom Cable and plans to work hard to regain his starting quarterback role for the Oakland Raiders.
Bruce Gradkowski was named AFC offensive player of the week for his 20-of-33, 308-yards, three-touchdown effort against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey had his left foot encased in a walking boot Wednesday but was vague about his availability for the game against the Redskins.
Sounds as if there were no pleasantries exchanged between alleged training camp combatants Tom Cable and Randy Hanson upon Hanson’s return to the building Wednesday.

Raider News:
Raiders quarterback Bruce Gradkowski was named the new starter by coach Tom Cable, putting franchise face JaMarcus Russell on the bench for Sunday’s game against the visiting Bengals.
The Raiders and the Alameda County Joint Powers Authority agreed in principle to extend the Coliseum lease through the 2013 season, pending final approval.
Raiders blacked out fifth straight game Sunday vs Bengals.
Chaz Schilens will start at wide receiver in place of Louis Murphy, and not Darrius Heyward-Bey.
The good news is veteran defensive end Greg Ellis was limited and could possibly play against Cincinnati, Cable said. Also, Michael Huff’s ankle which necessitated an MRI, is apparently fine. He made it through the entire practice.

Raider News:
In just his second game, Crabtree continued to overshadow Oakland receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey on Sunday with six catches for 81 yards against Indianapolis.
Coach Tom Cable said Wednesday that he has spoken with Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis about allegations that Cable has a history of violent behavior toward women.”What we talked about is between us and we’ll keep it that way,” he said.
Injuries:
Running back Darren McFadden (knee), receiver Chaz Schilens (foot) and offensive lineman Robert Gallery (leg) all returned to practice on a limited basis. Cable expects all three to be able to play when the team returns from its bye to face Kansas City on Nov. 15.
Defensive end Greg Ellis underwent arthroscopic surgery on his injured knee Wednesday and the team won’t know his status until next week.
The Raiders expect to be at full strength on the offensive line when they resume play Nov. 15 against Kansas City. Right tackle Cornell Green will practice with no limits starting next week and said he will be ready to play.

Raider News:
The Napa County district attorney announced Thursday no charges will be filed against Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable for allegedly assaulting one of his assistants.
The Raiders game Sunday against the New York Jets Sunday will be blacked out locally because it failed to sell out 72 hours before kickoff.
Raiders defensive linemen Richard Seymour issued a bold prediction Wednesday, saying fans are going to witness something this season that they haven’t seen since 2002.
Injuries:
Chaz Schilens practiced without limitations and Cable said he’d wait through the rest of the week before determining whether he would start, but anticipated he would play “a ton.”
Fullback Luke Lawton practiced fully after missing the Philadelphia game with an ankle injury, but not surprisingly, Cable said Gary Russell would retain the position of starting fullback after catching five passes for 55 yards and getting high grades from the head coach for both his run blocking and pass blocking.

Raider News:
The Raiders game Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles was officially declared a blackout, failing to sell out 72 hours before kickoff. It was the Raiders’ second consecutive blackout and 71st since the team returned to Oakland in 1995.
The Oakland Raiders re-signed offensive lineman Langston Walker on Wednesday and waived injured fullback Oren O’Neal.
Injuries:
Wide receiver Chaz Schilens went through drills and warmups and was in the regular rotation catching passes during the first phase of offense Wednesday, a strong indication he could be active when the Raiders host the Philadelphia Eagles.
LB Ricky Brown has an ankle injury that could be rehabbed in four weeks, but also could necessitate surgery that would put him out for the season.
RT Cornell Green (calf) and RB Darren McFadden (calf) will not play this week.
Backup offensive tackle Khalif Barnes just might play Sunday.

Raider News:
Gallery, the second overall pick in the 2004 draft (taken before Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger), has missed only six games in his five-plus year career.
Free safety Hiram Eugene didn’t practice and won’t play against Denver, meaning Michael Huff will go back to being the fulltime player at that position after intercepting three passes as the deep safety in the nickel defense.
The Oakland Raiders’ home game against the Denver Broncos will be blacked out locally because the team did not sell out the game in time.
The Eighth Annual Raiders Fiesta Latina will be held Sunday, September 27th, when The Oakland Raiders take on the Denver Broncos at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.
It figures that, after we spilled plenty of e-ink in defending the Week One decision to take away from the Oakland Raiders a second-quarter touchdown after receiver Louis Murphy, despite having possession and two feet down, lost the ball when hitting the ground, officials blew two similar calls in the next Sunday of action.
