The Salvation Army and the Oakland Raiders are excited to announce the creation of a Coat Drive / Ticket Fundraiser designed to support local members of our community in need.
Raiders punt returner Johnnie Lee Higgins was named the AFC special teams player of the week Wednesday.
The most noteworthy thing about Thursday’s Thanksgiving Day practice was a hip flexor strain by defensive end Kalimba Edwards. The Raiders leader in sacks with five, Edwards opened the season as a nickel rusher, became a starter when Derrick Burgess went down with a torn triceps and fared well enough to start on the right side when Burgess returned. Edwards was listed as “questionable” and was limited in practice.
Sunday’s game against the visiting Chiefs is a sellout, making the Raiders 5 for 6 in that department this season.

Wide receiver Javon Walker hobbled into the locker room on crutches Thursday, his left foot in a protective boot. “I’m done for the season,” Walker said.
Raiders coach Tom Cable on Wednesday confirmed that he has replaced offensive coordinator Greg Knapp as the play-caller.
Backup quarterback Andrew Walter (ankle), wide receiver Javon Walker (ankle), center Jake Grove (calf) and linebacker Ricky Brown (groin) missed practice. Wide receiver Chaz Schilens (ankle), Russell (knee), McFadden and defensive end Derrick Burgess (triceps) were limited in practice. Burgess practiced for the first time since Oct. 6. He missed the past five games.
The Raiders signed cornerback/kick returner Justin Miller on Wednesday.
The Raiders signed quarterback Jeff Otis to their practice squad. He spent time with the Raiders in training camp the past two seasons. He was added as an insurance policy because of injuries to Russell and Walter.

DeAngelo Hall’s disappointing stint with the Oakland Raiders came to an early finish.
For all the Raider fans that purchased a DeAngelo Hall Jersey I suggest you return it to the Oakland Raiders Facility in Alameda for refund.
This weeks game will be blacked out in the local area
The Raiders placed rookie fourth-round draft pick Tyvon Branch and linebacker Robert Thomas on injured reserve Wednesday, ending their seasons.
With the two roster spots, the Raiders added cornerback Michael Waddell and linebacker Marquis Cooper.
The midseason shakeup of the Raiders also includes cornerback Stanford Routt, who not only was bypassed as the starter by Chris Johnson, but said he was also off the nickel and dime packages.
While Kwame Harris will start at left tackle against Carolina, the plan is to give Mario Henderson some series as well, with both taking a shot at the Panthers Julius Peppers, who occasionally will flop but plays predominantly on the right side “Probably what I will do is rotate them in the first half,” Cable said.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers and running back Darren McFadden of the Oakland Raiders are the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week for games played on September 14 - 15, the NFL announced.
The Raiders cut tight end John Madsen in order to bring aboard natural tight end Ben Troupe.
The stadium where the Oakland Raiders and Athletics play is going back to its original name: The Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.
Several players missed practice Wednesday, but only three _ running back Justin Fargas (groin), defensive tackle Gerard Warren (pectoral) and guard Cooper Carlisle (ankle) look to be in jeopardy with regard to facing the San Diego Chargers Sunday at the Coliseum.
The Raiders announced Sunday’s game against the Chargers has been declared a sellout, meaning it will be televised locally.

The Raiders placed offensive tackle Paul McQuistan on injured reserve with a season-ending knee injury from the Broncos game. He was replaced on the 53-man roster by Seth Wand, who was waived by the team Monday. … The Raiders also re-signed offensive tackle Branden Torrey to the practice squad two days after releasing him.

The late Gene Upshaw, an Oakland Raiders Hall-of-Famer and long-time leader of the NFL Players Association, will receive an honor worthy of his lifetime of accomplishments via a uniform patch to be worn by every team. On Monday, the NFL announced that the patch will be worn for the entire season by every player. It will bear his initials (GU) and his number, 63.

The Raiders announced the following player moves to reach the NFL limit of 53 players:
Eight Raiders who were cut Saturday didn’t even have to pack their bags. Once they cleared waivers, the Raiders re-signed them to the practice squad.
The Raiders officially added Ashley Lelie to the roster Tuesday and released defensive tackle William Joseph.
The Raiders waived linebacker Robert Thomas while injured, clearing the way to bringing aboard free agent fullback Luke Lawton.

Coach Lane Kiffin told Bay Area media by conference call Sunday evening fullback Oren O’Neal and wide receiver Drew Carter were out for the season with left knee injuries.
Special-teams veteran Jarrod Cooper informed team officials he was retiring after NFL seven seasons, Kiffin said.
After practice Tuesday, Kiffin said Bush is not changing positions.
The Raiders released backup kicker Aaron Elling and wide receiver Drisan James, LB Grant Irons and DE Greg Spires to meet Tuesday’s deadline for a 75-man roster.
The Raiders claimed fullback Luke Lawton, who was waived by Philadelphia, and signed defensive back Marviel Underwood out of San Diego State.
Tuesday, when Kiffin named Grove the starting center for the regular season opener against Denver on Sept. 8. Grove, when talking to reporters in front of his locker, revealed he’d had microfracture surgery in July to repair extensive damage in a knee which has bothered him since his second season.
Linebacker Shane Simmons, who was with the Raiders through organized team activities, was signed to the roster because of a knee injury suffered by strongside linebacker Robert Thomas.
