With Walker sidelined by a surprise knee surgery, the Raiders brought in two receivers - Samie Parker and Drisan James - for a minicamp tryout Saturday.

The Raiders also signed UC-Davis offensive guard Jonathan Compas, per the school website.
The Raiders signed Boise State tight end Chris O’Neill, the school announced on its website.
The Raiders have also signed Kent State wide receiver Shawn Bayes, according to recordpub.com.

The Raiders also have signed tackle Marcus Johnson, who spent four years with the Vikings after being drafted in the second round of the 2005 draft.
The NFL has announced that the 2009 regular-season schedule will be revealed via NFL Network and NFL.com. at 7:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, April 14. NFL Network will have a two-hour special edition of Total Access will be broadcast, hosted by Rich Eisen.

The Oakland Raiders kick off their 50th season of professional football competition by hosting the Dallas Cowboys at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum in NFL 2009 preseason Week One action.
The Raiders re-signed strongside linebacker Sam Williams, who is more of a core special teams player at this stage of his career, the team announced on the transaction page of its website Wednesday night.
They also signed defensive tackle Ryan Boschetti, who played for the Redskins since they signed him out of UCLA as an undrafted free agent in 2004.

The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that return man Justin Miller and defensive tackle William Joseph have re-signed with the club and are at the team’s facility today for the start of the team’s offseason workout program. The moves to keep Miller and Joseph continue Oakland’s routine of re-signing its own players this offseason.

The Raiders tendered linebacker Ricky Brown, linebacker Jon Alston and long-snapper Jon Condo Thursday, virtually ensuring they would remain with the club.
The Raiders agreed to terms with special teams star Isaiah Ekejiuba to a three-year contract Saturday night, a league source told The Chronicle, just as the Pro Bowl alternate was preparing to visit other interested NFL teams.
The Raiders announced they re-signed right guard Cooper Carlisle and tight end Tony Stewart on Tuesday.
According to David White of the San Francisco Chronicle, Javon Walker has agreed to a major restructuring of his contract, giving up a $5 million roster bonus that was due this week and reducing his base salaries dramatically.

Gibril Wilson, along with wide receiver Ronald Curry and defensive end Kalimba Edwards, were released Friday as the Raiders began to clear the books for the signings of Nnamdi Asomugha, Shane Lechler and the still-unannounced signing of Chris Johnson.
The Oakland Raiders continued trimming the fat from their roster Monday by waiving OT Kwame Harris and FB Justin Griffith.
Gibril Wilson agreed to a five-year, $27.5 million deal with the Dolphins that included $8 million in guarantees.
Raiders DT Tommy Kelly will stay with the team in 2009 after converting a $4.5M roster bonus into a guaranteed payment to reduce his cap number.
The Raiders offered outside linebacker Ricky Brown a second-round tender, a league source told The Chronicle this morning, which will all but certainly bring him back next season.

The Oakland Raiders reached agreement with cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha on a $45.3 million, three-year contract that makes him the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history.
All-Pro punter Shane Lechler agreed to a four-year contract Wednesday to stay with the Oakland Raiders, allowing the club to avoid a potentially tough choice in free agency.

First I received a email from our Capologist Al Lackner he said One thing that is encouraging for Raider fans is that I was just informed from a source inside the League Office that the Raiders are due to get a credit of almost $3 M against this year’s cap.
First let’s make it perfectly clear cutting the big salary of Javon Walker or Ronald Curry will not make that money we need as a matter of fact we would lose a body and it will cost us more on the cap. We only hope we have with a player like them is to trade them which will be highly unlikely.
Players that you draft, although can be a needle in the haystack at times, are reasonably priced other then the first rounder’s. So with our current state trading our players for picks could make the most sense.
We can franchise someone but remember all that does is push that problem off for another year and let me just tell you a few names we have scheduled for free agency next year start with Derrick Burgess next Kirk Morrison then Thomas Howard and last but not least SeaBas so think about those names and add Nnamdi we have to make some decisions now.
So with the understanding that free agent signings will cost money and we don’t have any to resign our own lets take a look at some harsh realities.

Shane Lechler 3 kicks for an average of 48 yards but that 65 yarder was beautiful.
Congrats to both these great players.
