New coach, new play caller, new motto, same hideous result. Raiders interim leader Tom Cable made his NFL head-coaching debut Sunday, and all indications are he can lose as thoroughly as his four immediate predecessors. His team got overwhelmed by the Saints…

Blame a lot of Raiders players and coaches for Sunday’s 34-3 loss to the Saints. Just leave cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha out of it. After all, opposing teams always do. Saints quarterback Drew Brees completed 26 of 30 passes for 320 yards, but only one of…

Raiders co-MVP* Sebastian Janikowski stands at 9-for-12 on field goals this season. Coming into today’s battle of good and evil in New Orleans, Janikowski’s only miss came on that maniacal 76-yard attempt against San Diego, the proverbial and superfluous grievance which got Lane Kiffin exiled.

Preparing for Week 6

I am headed to New Orleans for Sunday’s game between the Raiders and the Saints.
It’s a new era (again) for the Raiders and it will be fun to see how the Raiders react to playing for interim coach Tom Cable after the Lane Kiffin saga.
What I am most interested in seeing is whether Oakland quarterback JaMarcus Russell will indeed air it our more as has been indicated in Oakland. Also, I want to see if the Raiders can play better in the fourth quarter.
They blew fourth-quarter leads against Buffalo and San Diego, in their last two games, and were outscored by a total of 42-10 in those two games.

The Oakland Raiders are traveling to New Orleans to face off with the New Orleans Saints at the Louisiana Superdome. This is not a long standing rivalry as the Raiders and Saints have only faced off 10 times. The Raiders lead that series 5-4 with one tie. The most defining moment in a Raider Saints match up actually happened during the preseason as the Saints took the field in Oakland shortly after Katrina devastated the New Orleans and the Raider Nation showed their support to an opposing team that was facing their own serious crisis.

Raiders cornerback DeAngelo Hall isn’t afraid to man up. It’s just not as easy as he supposed. Hall said it’s been a struggle to learn the Raiders’ way of playing defense, where the cornerbacks apply press coverage in man-on-man situations. If they’re not in…
