Raider News:
Raiders and Chargers won’t swap home dates This time, the NFL isn’t sending teams elsewhere to accommodate baseball.According to Scott Bair of CSNBayArea.com, the Raiders and Chargers won’t swap home games to avoid a potential conflict with the baseball playoffs. Instead, they’re still considering changes dates or times of existing games. As it stands, the Chargers are scheduled to go to the Oakland on Oct. 6, and the Raiders visit San Diego on Dec. 22. But with the Oakland A’s possibly conflicting with the first date for a playoff game, there was discussion of a switch. Instead, they’re considering a time change, or possibly playing the Oct. 6 football game on Monday, Oct. 7 if need be.
Safety Tyvon Branch may have suffered a fractured fibula, according to an ESPN report Monday. Branch left was helped off the field in the first quarter of Sunday’s 19-9 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, with coach Dennis Allen saying after the game it was thought to be a “significant’’ injury. The last time Allen used “significant’’ in assessing an injury, left tackle Jared Veldheer needed surgery to repair a torn triceps. According to a tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, “Oakland S Tyvon Branch suffered what Raiders say is “significant’’ injury thought to be a fractured fibula that will sideline him indefinitely. Brandian Ross filled in for Branch against Jacksonville, with Usama Young also able to play both safety spots for the Raiders. Ross had a sack against the Jaguars and Young 1.5 sacks.
