The Raiders have signed veteran offensive lineman Andre Gurode, the club said Friday night. The 34-year-old Gurode, who starred at center earlier in his career but can also play guard, will work again with Raiders assistant head coach / offensive line coach Tony Sparano, who was Dallas’ OL coach from 2005 through 2007.
As the regular season approaches, more appeals or more suspensions will become finalized. For the players who lose their appeals, their suspensions will then be announced.
After five months of free agency, Omar Gaither is back in Oakland. The Raiders announced today that Gaither, who played the second half of the 2012 season in Oakland, has signed with the team again.
Raiders cornerback Tracy Porter was initially upset about having the shirt taken off his back (at least the number) and given to someone else. But he said Thursday he’s moved on, no longer upset that Charles Woodson was given preference over No. 24 without his consent. “The jersey situation is what it is,” Porter said, via Scott Bair of CSNBayArea.com. “It got some attention because I spoke out about it. I didn’t like the way it was handled, but whatever man. I’m not going to leave camp because my jersey number was switched.”
With depth issues on the interior of the defensive line, the Raiders signed defensive tackle Myles Wade, according to a tweet from the agency that represents him. Symmetry said on @symmetry reps: “Congratulations to DT client Myles Wade, who moments ago signed on with the Oakland Raiders . . . Best of luck to Myles.’’UPDATE: The Raiders have confirmed the addition of Wade.
The Raiders have signed kicker Sebastian Janikowski to a four-year contract extension, General Manager Reggie McKenzie announced Friday. Now in his 14th season with the Silver and Black, Janikowski is the Raiders’ all-time leading scorer with 1,318 points since entering the NFL as Oakland’s first-round draft choice (17th overall) in 2000.
