Why is that we (as fans) continue to overrate or given excuses to our own players? For example, if you are a pure hard-worker on the team you general get a pass, right? At some point in time, we need to stop drinking the kool-aid and call a spade a spade on our own players. We need to start being realistic and truthful about many players on this team, state if a person is absolutely horseshit, or if he does not even belong in this league. I will start: Kirk Morrison is absolutely one of the worst middle linebackers in the NFL. He is small, he cannot cover the flats, does not tackle that well, does not get off blocks, and is nothing but an average linebacker. Your turn.
Training camp is about a week away. Okay I understand that with camp starting football season will be around the corner. However, for the sake of humanity can we please stop overrating and overreacting to every damn blog or story that comes out of these practices? Likewise, will we stop stating which new person has a legit shot of making the squad? Every year there is a player on the team that fans like to get behind, thinking this person can make an impact on the team. BJ WARD? Remember him? Frankly, I hate training camp but I understand its purpose.
Pre season football is stupid and I am not looking forward to it. Look, I LIKE the fact that I get to attend pre season football like every other cult-driven fan. In fact, I love the interaction with other fans and getting back into football shape. It is like a big family reunion when we all see each other, share beer. Whatever. Nevertheless, I hate the actual games itself. Pre season football means as much as NBA Summer League games. Not a lot. All we get to see is which set of scrubs is better than the next. In addition, most of the games, especially that pivotal dress rehearsal of game three, are nothing more than glorifies practice scrimmages. You do not see a lot of deception, motion with offense or any complicated schemes with the defense.
Sept 14 is all that I care about at this point. I do not care about who wins between SF and Oakland. I care about the fact that we have not defeated SD since Rich Gannon was the qb. I care about the fact that we have not won more than five got damn games since 2002. We need to start off on a right foot and this means sending a message to SD. Not only do we need to beat SD in the scoreboard, but also we need to physical cause harm to all of their players, especially that roided up freak Sean Merriman. This group of players that stomped all over our logo when Art Shell was the coach, and I have yet to forget about that night. Payback is a motherfucking bitch and it is coming.
How are we going to defend the run? We were still dead last in defending the run last season, and all we did was bring in a new defensive coordinator in John Marshall and hope that he can somehow motivate the stiffs up front to stop the run. Terdell Sands is horrible, Tommy Kelly is unmotivated, and Gerrard Warren is the only person who draws double teams. With that, I hope Marshall knows something that I do not know. He better stunt the line, send run blitz or do something. Our RUN D is still the number 1 issue on this team, as the passing game will be better.
FilthyGen
Wow. Ok, I agree with almost everything in this post. But it should have been titled “Filthy Mouth” or “Ever Since I Had the F-Word Tattoed on my Tongue, I’ve Had Tourette syndrome.”
I do my share of swearing; like when I hit my thumb with a hammer. But I really want to swear when I see my kid reading this and want him to be part of the Raider Nation.
So hmmm…yup. No free passes. Either you stink or you don’t. If you can’t express yourself without obscenities, then as a writer…well, you stink and you shouldn’t post your stink where other peoples kids can see it past a Net Nanny..
