It seems Derrick Burgess has had enough with the Oakland Raiders. Trade talks during April’s NFL draft and a very timely stomach flu causing the 30-year-old to miss voluntary camps point strongly toward the defensive end’s days with Oakland coming to an end.
Yet head coach Tom Cable isn’t so sure.
A week ago, the 44-year-old coach, when asked about a possible Burgess trade scenario, commented, …

Off track… The Raiders need some proven talent. Who is going to provide sacks next year? Trevor Scott… you’re going to put it all on him off of a good performance in one game? Crazy. Burgess is the only proven pass rusher. He needs to be situational at this point in his career to make 16 injury free games and not be a detriment to the run defense. He could and should be a great rush-situation player as younger DEs and LBs get more into the pass rush and develop.
