Sportsbooks - In last Sunday’s win at the Atlanta Falcons, the Denver Broncos proved that their beleaguered defense could exhibit solid play for four quarters against a quality opponent with a dangerous offensive cast. Read more.

Denver Daily News
Do not get too excited just yet, Denver Broncos fans, because a loss to the hated (and terrible) Oakland Raiders would likely crush the Denver Broncos’ playoff aspirations.
The Broncos now sit at 6-4 with a two-game lead over the San Diego Chargers, but this is a rivalry game and the Raiders have already upset the New York Jets earlier in the season.

1 One more time.
The Broncos have been better against the run the past three games - opponents are averaging 3.8 yards a carry during that span - and they need to keep it up in this one. The only thing the Raiders offense can do with any consistency is run the ball.

“I’m hunting DBs,” he joked.

When the Broncos run the ball
* The skinny: By giving the ball to Tatum Bell down the stretch Sunday in Atlanta, the Broncos showed they intend to involve him a little more as they move through November and into December. P.J. Pope also showed he can provide a little pop in the run game. Run defense had been the one thing the Raiders had going for them early, but their offensive struggles have put the defense in too many bad spots and opponents are controlling the ball and the clock - averaging 34.5 run plays a game.

ALAMEDA – The Denver Broncos struggle in pass coverage, something not lost on a Raiders team looking to jump-start its offense.
Denver allows 69.1 percent completions and ranks 29th in the NFL with an average of 243.5 passing yards allowed.

ALAMEDA – You’re not going to change Tom Cable’s mind. The Raiders’ interim coach still believes Kwame Harris is a good football player.
Cable just wishes his left offensive tackle wouldn’t be so eager to get out of his three-point stance.
“He’s just got to believe he’s a good football player because he is when he’s right,” Cable said. “When he doesn’t overanalyze or overthink things, he’s really good.”
Harris came to the Raiders as a free agent last spring after five seasons with the 49ers in which he had a penchant for untimely penalties.
As the Raiders tried to score their first offensive touchdown since Oct. 26 in Baltimore, Harris had two false starts deep in Miami territory last week that left his coach, teammates and himself frustrated.

Denver rookie class is providing a big boost

It is the massive left tackle who has shut out sack masters Joey Porter and John Abraham this season.
It is the dynamic receiver and return man who caught nine passes for 146 yards in his NFL debut and is a legitimate rookie-of-the-year and Pro Bowl candidate.

DENVER (AP) -The Denver Broncos have the fourth-worst defense in the NFL, they’re minus-10 in turnover differential and their injury epidemic is so acute they’re down to their sixth, seventh and eighth options at tailback.

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — When the Oakland Raiders drafted Michael Bush in 2007 they felt as if they had stolen a player with first-round talent in the fourth round because of a broken leg that ruined his senior season.

Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha (21) faced off against Carolina’s DeAngelo Williams on Nov. 9, and he will work to challenge the Denver offense this Sunday.
ALAMEDA – To many Raiders fans, Mike Shanahan symbolizes all things evil. And there isn’t anything the former Raiders coach could say to change that.
But Shanahan, now in his 13th season as Denver Broncos head coach, is sweet on Nnamdi Asomugha.

ALAMEDA - The only players missing at the start of practice were linebacker Ricky Brown (groin) and center Jake Grove (calf).
Inside The Oakland Raiders
Mike Shanahan is either a charter member of the Nnamdi Asomugha fan club or is trying to lull the lonely Raiders cornerback into a false sense of security.
In a conference call with Bay Area reporters, Shanahan appeared to be lobbying to be Asomugha’s introductory speaker upon his inevitable induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Inside The Oakland Raiders
If practice participation is any indication, and it usually is, Derrick Burgess has a better chance than Jake Grove to be playing this weekend in Denver.
Burgess was suited up and on the field as practice began, while Grove was not, presumably still rehabbing a calf injury.
